Hair Washing & Drying
Am I washing my hair too often?
Washing your hair regularly won’t interfere with your treatment. Most people find that washing 2–5 times a week works well, but daily washing is also perfectly fine if it fits your routine. The key is to use a gentle shampoo and be careful not to rub or towel-dry your hair too roughly.
Can shampoo affect my results?
Shampooing itself won’t reduce the effectiveness of your treatment. Using a supportive, treatment-friendly shampoo like Manual’s Power shampoo can actually help enhance your overall results by keeping the scalp healthy and creating the best environment for hair growth.
Medications like Finasteride or Dutasteride work internally, so washing your hair has no impact on how they perform. If you’re using topical Minoxidil or sprays, results are maintained as long as the product is given enough time to absorb before washing, so it’s a good idea to plan your shampooing around when you apply your spray, allowing adequate absorption time.
Is it safe to use a hairdryer?
Yes. Using a hairdryer is completely fine. Keep it on a low or cool setting and avoid holding it too close to the scalp. Heat doesn’t cause hair loss, though too much heat can increase breakage.
Derma Rollers/Micro needling:
Should I use a derma roller as well?
Derma rolling is optional. Many people get great results without it. If you choose to use one, stick to 0.5mm or less and no more than once weekly.
Can I derma roll every day?
Daily use of derma rollers isn’t recommended. Overuse can irritate the scalp and may slow progress. Once weekly is plenty.
Can I derma roll and use Minoxidil on the same day?
You can derma roll and use topical minoxidil on the same day, just wait a few minutes after derma rolling to apply the spray
Holistic/Supplements/Oils
Do vitamins help with hair loss?
Vitamins and supplements can support overall hair and scalp health, but they won’t treat male-pattern hair loss on their own. That’s because supplements are supportive only — they don’t address the underlying hormonal cause of hair thinning. Prescribed medication is designed to target this root issue, while supplements can help enhance your results by supporting hair health alongside your treatment plan.
Can I use rosemary oil?
Yes, you can use rosemary oil. It’s a great holistic option that can be used alongside your treatment to help support hair strength and overall scalp health. Just keep in mind that it won’t replace your prescribed treatment and should be considered an optional add-on rather than a primary solution.
If you’re using a topical spray, avoid applying rosemary oil at the same time, it’s best to space these out so each product has time to work effectively and to reduce the risk of scalp irritation.
Are herbal alternatives effective instead of medication?
Natural products don’t block DHT or reliably stimulate regrowth. They can’t replace Finasteride/Dutasteride or Minoxidil. Medication remains the most effective option for slowing or reversing male-pattern hair loss.
Hats/Helmets/Hair Accessories
Do hats cause hair loss?
Hats do not cause hair loss. Hair thinning and balding are primarily influenced by genetics and hormones, not by headwear.
I wear a helmet at work or the gym—could that be an issue?
Wearing a helmet won’t affect your results. Just be sure it’s clean and not overly tight to help prevent scalp irritation.
Do hairbands or man buns cause hair loss?
Tight hairstyles worn constantly can cause traction-related breakage, but they don’t cause male-pattern hair loss. Keeping styles looser helps minimise breakage.
Shedding and Daily Hair fall
I’m shedding a lot — should I panic?
Shedding can be a normal — and often expected — part of the process, especially in the early stages of treatment or during natural hair-cycle shifts. This doesn’t mean your treatment isn’t working. In fact, shedding usually indicates that weaker hairs are being pushed out and replaced by stronger, healthier hairs as the growth cycle resets.
Why has shedding come back again?
Hair grows in cycles, so shedding can return after a period of stability. As long as overall density is stable or improving, it’s not a concern.
How much daily shedding is normal?
There isn’t a specific number to focus on. What matters most is how your hair looks over time—weeks and months—rather than day-to-day shedding. Progress photos are a far more reliable way of tracking your results than counting individual hairs. That said, if you notice a sudden spike or ongoing increase in shedding, our team is always happy to review your case and help guide you, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Styling Products and hair Fibres
Can I use gel or wax?
Yes — styling products like gel or wax won’t interfere with treatment. Just wash them out regularly to prevent scalp buildup.
Are hair fibres safe to use?
Yes. Hair fibres won’t impact regrowth. Just make sure to remove them thoroughly at the end of the day.
Can styling products cause hair loss?
Styling products themselves don’t cause hair loss. However, excessive buildup or irritation can make the scalp uncomfortable. Switching to lighter products may help if irritation occurs.
