We’re sorry to hear you’re having difficulty completing your finger-prick blood test. This is quite common and nothing to worry about. Some people find it difficult to collect enough blood on the first attempt.
If you would like to try again, we can send you a free replacement kit, along with a short video tutorial that shows how to get the best results.
Tips to make the test easier
These steps can help improve blood flow and make the process easier:
Drink plenty of water at least 30 minutes before using the kit
Make sure your hands are warm, for example by running them under warm water or rubbing them together for a few minutes
Use the lancet on the side of your ring finger, rather than the fingertip
Gently squeeze from your knuckle towards your fingertip to encourage blood flow
You can also watch our step-by-step video tutorial, which demonstrates exactly how to do this.
Prefer to complete a venous blood test instead?
If you would prefer to complete your initial blood test as a venous sample rather than a finger-prick test, this is a great alternative and we can arrange it for you.
