We know starting your Weight Loss treatment is a big step, and we’re here with you all the way. Here’s a quick guide to keeping everything safe and simple.
Why disposal matters
Used needles, pens, and full sharps bins count as clinical waste in the UK, so they can’t go in normal household trash. Safe disposal helps protect you and your community from injuries and infection.
After every injection
Put the outer needle shield back on
Unscrew the needle and place it straight into your sharps bin
Keep the bin away from kids + pets, and don’t fill past the line
Disposing of your used Pen
You can place the used pen in your sharps bin, or
Drop it at a local pharmacy or GP (call ahead)
Wegovy: Can be recycled through the free PenCycle program
Mounjaro: Not recyclable right now
When your sharps bin is full
Lock it securely (it can’t be reopened)

Free disposal options:
Local Pharmacy or GP Drop-Off: some councils offer drop-off points at pharmacies or GP surgeries, but always call ahead to confirm before travelling;
Council Collection (Free Service): The most common method is to arrange a free clinical waste collection from your local council. You can find details for your area by visiting: https://www.gov.uk/request-clinical-waste-collection
